Story

Princess Miaoshan was born in the ancient Kingdom of Miaozhuang. Kind and compassionate by nature, she refused to marry and devoted herself to spiritual practice. Enraged, the king put her through many hardships and sent her into remote mountains, yet Miaoshan never changed her heart. Later, the king suffered a serious illness. Legend said only the hands and eyes of his family member could cure him. Upon hearing this, Miaoshan sacrificed her own hands and eyes to save her father. Her filial piety and compassion moved heaven and earth. She was granted thousands of hands and thousands of eyes, so she may see all suffering across the world and hear every cry for help. People honor her as Guanyin, who comes to rescue anyone in distress when they pray.
