Manjushri (文殊菩萨)

He presides over supreme wisdom. He protects people born in the Year of Rabbit, awakens wisdom, clarifies the mind and boosts luck in study and exams. He dispels ignorance and worries, strengthens decision-making ability and helps stay away from villains and disputes. He assists devotees in study, examinations and clear thinking, guiding them to make right career choices and gain both blessings and wisdom.

Story

Manjushri Bodhisattva is the left attendant of Shakyamuni Buddha. Together with Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, they are known as the Avatamsaka Three Saints. According to Buddhist scriptures, Manjushri had attained Buddhahood long ago as Buddha Mahasattva. He manifested as a bodhisattva to assist Shakyamuni Buddha to liberate beings. His sacred place is Mount Wutai in Shanxi Province. The *Avatamsaka Sutra* records that Manjushri widely expounds Prajna wisdom and teaches beings to see through illusions. In folk belief, Manjushri is the guardian bodhisattva for those born in the Year of Rabbit. Believers often pray for smooth study and examinations.
